Racemic <i>cis</i>-bis[bis(pyrimidin-2-yl)amine-κ<i>N</i>]bis(dicyanamido-κ<i>N</i> ¹)iron(II) dihydrate: synthesis, crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis

The title compound, [Fe(C 2 N 3 ) (C 8 H 7 5 ]·2H O, has been synthesized solvothermally and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. octahedral iron coordination polyhedron contains two di(pyrimidin-2-yl)amine ligands coordinated in a bidentate fashion, monodentate dicyanimido ligands, each via terminal atom, with the latter cis orientation. ligand configuration about atom is chiral, although compound crystallizes as racemic mixture: Fe—N distances (&gt; 2.07 Å) are characteristic of high-spin iron(II). In crystal, an extensive series N—H...N, O—H...N O—H...O hydrogen bonds links independent molecular components into three-dimensional framework. atoms both water molecules disordered. structure also features some π–π anion–π interactions. intermolecular interactions were investigated Hirshfeld surface analysis two-dimensional fingerprint plots.
